I’m a big fan of developing good habits, though you wouldn’t know that if you’d followed me around for the past few months.
For a while, I was fairly good at tracking all the fabulous things I was doing on a regular basis (insert your own “back of a stamp” gag here), but recently I’ve let things slide.
I need to get back into the “good habit” habit. My tendency is to go all in on these things – trying to do absolutely everything at once which, while sounding very laudable, ends up in disaster, with me spilling my Kale smoothie on my Tibetan singing bowl as I attempt to manoeuvre my disgusting body into a downward dog (that’s a yoga thing, not a bestiality thing).
I want to do this the right way – one habit at a time, but the problem is that there are so many to choose from. What habit should I start with?
And then what?
I’ve been thinking about this for a few days and have tried to be logical about it.
Here’s the list I’ve come up with, in descending order of impact:
- Sleep 8 hours
- Eating healthy (OK, let’s be realistic shall we? How about “healthy-er”?)
- Starting to exercise again
- 8 Glasses of water (I’m actually not too far off doing thi…what? PER DAY??? Shit! I thought that was per month!)
- Writing/creating every day
- Journalling daily
- Reading daily
- Planning my day
This is not a definitive list so if you know me, my life and my foibles and think I’m missing something out that desperately needs attention, please let me know.
What do you make of the list? Would you add/remove anything? Would you move something higher or lower?
What have been the most impactful habits for you?
I’d really appreciate your thoughts.
